Reserved a small SUV and it was not available. Was given a standard size with a back up camera. This worked out fine. Was surprised that for my husband to drive the car, it would have been an additional $13 per day. Had rented for 28 days. This should be noted before reservations are completed.
Car pickup took 1.5 hours. First car they had for me had the following issues: dent and scratch on a door, mileage varied by 750 miles from rental agreement, and strong smell of cigarette smoke in a car where smoking was not allowed.
I went back inside, waited in their long line, and was initially accused of adding the dent, mileage, and smoke myself. Classy.
Horrible experience. I reserved a mid size Suv 2 months before my arrival to Panama city beach. I arrive at the counter and the lady says they have no vehicles and they won't be getting any. She also said she left me a voice mail so I checked that. I told her that she called me while I was on my flight. Getting my refund is another nightmare waiting to happen. All of the other agencies were out of vehicles as well but that's because I didn't have reservations with them. Then I went to a avis. They had a new minivan that was perfect for us. The agent gave me a great deal because of my trouble with thrifty. Bottom line. DON'T USE THRIFTY!!!!! Use avis. They went above and beyond for me.
Next car did not have a full tank of full. Again, "I" was the problem when I asked the attendant to change my rental agreement to accurately reflect the fuel level.
Sorry I used thrifty! First time user..last time user! Reserved over a month ahead through their website. I had an SUV reserved which was the special at an economy rate. We were first in line to pick up the car and they told me the SUV was not there yet and that they don't get as many as they should due to them being at another location most of the time. Told me it would be an hour wait and nothing else was available and they were sold out of other cars. Of course I checked the other car companies and they didn't have cars either being a saturday and beach location (airport). So we waited and then about 45 minutes later they offered us a truck which was not an option for us. Finally ordered some food at the bar and I called us said can give us a midsize car. We were the only ones waiting with another family in the airport for a car. We Took the midsize car as there would be no SUV. They did give me a $30 voucher for my "next" trip (which I thought to never use them again) but I had to use it on my return trip home due to a canceled late flight for a car (no economy car available). So We were charged $65 for 10 hours but used my $30 voucher (taxi would be more). So I feel We got screwed twice!
