Used to live across the street from Gene's, we still stop in annually. Always a good idea. Gene has passed on, but the sisters keep it going.
The sauteed crab claws are my absolute favorite. The gumbo is amazing. The family vibe is what brings me back everytime. I love that place!
Nice old ecketic place. Very friendly staff. Gumbo and oyster stew were great. No alcohol. No loss. Place has been Hidden in a neighborhood for 50 years. Great alternative when other places are packed. You gotta go for the large fresh oysters and if nothing else to say you have been there!
The BEST oysters! Historic place off the usual touristy path. So fresh...they shuck open the oysters right in front of you. Gumbo is authentic and delicious. We got the loaded baked oyster and they were fabulous! Highly recommend! The Sweet tea was tasty too!
