We had a fantastic time with Blue Dolphin Tours. Our captain (Brent) was phenomenal. He made sure we not only saw dolphins and swam with them, but he also spent time to encourage them to play with the waves, jumping and flipping near the boat. Overall very friendly staff! Met us in the parking lot and guided us right where we needed to be. Kids loved every minute. Seashell Island was a blast, we saw live crabs, plenty of huge shells and the sand was so fine and soft.
And that would have been enough.
The boat ride was fun.
This experience was a lot different from what we was expecting. We will definitely be going again next year!!!! Our captain was really nice and had lots of information to share!!! The time went by so fast would almost do the longer tour next year!!!

So glad we didn't go on one of the "big boat tours".
We went on a half day Pontoon cruise with our family--grandparents, young kids, preteens, everyone--and it was fantastic. The employees at Blue Dolphin were so patient and helpful with us as boating novices as they taught us how to drive the boat and where to go. We spent a lovely day exploring Shell Island, swimming in the bay, collecting shells and watching Dolphins. We packed a cooler and had a fun picnic on the boat with dolphins swimming all around us. Highly recommend as a fun, family activity that is simple and affordable.
Wonderful experience with Captain Jim! We booked a 3 hour private tour and it didn't disappoint for the money. Captain Jim encouraged us to speak up if there was anything we wanted to do that we were interested in and emphasized the tour being "our experience." We were able to watch dolphins at the beginning of the tour, but feeling like it hadn't really been worthwhile, Captain Jim actually took us back out into the Gulf at the end of the tour to make sure we felt like we really got our viewing experience in. This led to the tour running a bit over time, but he didn't make us feel rushed and was more concerned about our experience than the time. He also found a wonderful spot along the shore in the Gulf to snorkel where we found a variety of sea life including tropical fish, starfish, sea urchins, clams, and sand dollars. Loved that this company allowed us to bring our own drinks/coolers aboard and we felt it was much more personalized with each boat only holding 6 people instead of several dozen like other companies that do tours. Definitely plan on booking another tour with this company when we visit Panama City Beach again! Maybe trying the jet skis?

But, we got lucky, and our Captains found a pod of dolphin.
Our group appreciated the smaller boats, with smaller groups. Even though we had 8 people (so had to be in two boats by law), we would not change a thing.
