I am located in New Jersey and called today looking for help to find somewhere to deliver cookies to a dear friend who lost her father last night. All of the places I called were either closed for business or didn't deliver until Feb. 2nd. I just happened to call the Chamber of Commerce and spoke to a very lovely and helpful woman named Melissa. She shared information of place called "Edible Bay" run by a woman named Mary Thweatt who was just as lovely as Melissa. I was able to get my cookies and she will deliver today. I just wanted to let someone know how THANKFUL I am that there are still people out there that go above and beyond to help out. Again Melissa thanks so much and Mary I will be shouting your name out to all my friends. Sherri Siwulec from Teaneck, New Jersey.
Bay County has allowed Dollar General to build stores all over the County. Many of the Dollar General stores are located in residential locations, some stores less than a hundred feet from homes. Their must not be any restrictions on the stores because they don't have to pick up the TRASH from areas around the stores. Beer bottles and beer cans are often seen in front of the stores and even their parking lots. Dollar stores today are not like they used to be, they are BEER and WINE OUTLETS. Where they build they bring the slum to you. So be very careful if you plan to move to Bay County because the County places the revenue above long term citizens values and property.
My wife and I visited again after about 20 years for some fall rest and relaxation. Though it was a ghost town time of the season we thought that during it's busy time what is missing is a way to walk among the businesses along the beach without having to drag through the sand. What a perfect place to have a boardwalk like that in Atlantic City or even Jones Beach in New York. Allow businesses to build along the boardwalk with funnel cakes and cotton candy, hamburger stands and ice cream shops. The fact that there are not even sidewalks along Front Beach Road makes it hard to take a continuous walk. Let's go Panama City, connect your piers with a boardwalk!
We have been coming to Panama City Beach since the late 80's staying for about a month. We stay at the Dunes of Panama and I have never seen the beach so dirty. That has hampered my stay because I really don't want to go down to the beach. Cigarette butts, paper trash, and just plan filthy.
The 3rd Annual Bedrace/Fundraiser was a "wonderful event" The bedrace, food, beverages, live music (band was great), chamber members, and chamber employees did an outstanding job. I am ready for next year. Thanks to everyone.
